About the event
Kimchi is a Korean staple food that has been made for thousands of years as a form of preserving the harvest. In recent years, Kimchi has been popularized in the local food scene as a flavorful addition to soups, sauces, and stir-fry as well as receiving attention as a superfood containing probiotics and healthy-gut bacteria. Many people have heard of kimchi but are intimidated by the "risky" process of fermenting in your home kitchen! Join us at the farm to learn the process from chef and farmer Jordan Goldsmith who has been preserving food with fermentation for over 9 years. Jordan will start with a conversation about the different types of kimchi you can make as well as provide unique recipe ideas for how to use it. She will then lead everyone in a hands-on demonstration using Napa cabbage and other farm-fresh ingredients from our own field! Every participant will leave with a jar of ready-to-ferment kimchee and instructions for how to finish the process with confidence.Â
